45 minutes to financial literacy — three modules, no prep, smartboard ready.
To the Educator: You don’t need a finance degree to teach this. Read the book. Follow the script. Let the kids do the talking. Each module runs 15 minutes — click “Launch Presentation Mode” to project on your classroom screen.
Read pages 1–12 aloud. Stop when Clarence realizes he doesn’t have enough money.
Call out items one at a time. Students give a thumbs-up for a NEED and a thumbs-down for a WANT.
“A budget prioritizes the thumbs-up items before the thumbs-down items. Needs come first — always.”
Read pages 15–24. Stop when Clarence uses his coupon.
Write a price on the board. Tell students they have a coupon. Walk them through finding the new price.
“The price on the sticker isn’t always the price you pay. Smart shoppers do the math.”
Read to the end of the book.
Every student writes down one thing they want, how much it costs, and how many weeks of allowance or chores it would take to buy it.
“Saving isn’t punishment — it’s a plan. The earlier you start, the sooner you get what you want.”
